SO tired of this ...

The folx at Kitty City tell me that Tiger was so very well behaved while he was there, and didn't terrorize anyone ... so I should try the three cats all together in the house and see what happens. So I did and what happens is that everything's fine for a week or so, then it gets hissier and chasier and eventually, Becky gets feeling trapped somewhere and can't get to a litterbox. Damnit.
So instead of sleeping, I'm tearing the bed apart and scrubbing the futon and turning it and remaking the bed. I'm counting the duvet cover, down duvet, brand new 400 threadcount sheets and brand new featherbed with the stuff Tiger's ruined directly ... brand new leather couch, brand new handknotted wool rug, hardwood and baseboards (and probably subfloor) in the front hall, several window screens, pairs of shoes, backpacks, blankets, pillows, a tent, a sleeping bag, etc.

Why is Billy's cat still here, you ask? A very good question.

Colour me frustrated to tears. Again.

Home Again, Home Again ...

I'm back ... feeling very full, loved and recharged.

Our shifts were very mellow ... there was a lost wallet (single mom, 2 young kids ... all their money and ID in it ... she spent lots of time on the phone with the folx at the border, figuring out how she was going to get them all home again), lots of hurt feet and ankles (including two feet run over on shift), some drama (rumoured to be coke-induced), and some very not-family-type behaviour around towing of vehicles and getting them back ... the crews decided they want to go back to rotating shifts ... having the porta-potties emptied both Sunday and Monday was wonderful ... not having water in the hand washing stations the first three days was not ... the feeding of the crew was mostly good but still has some rough spots ... I had three last-minute crew cancellations, one crew no-show, four SO and one Teen no-shows (a couple of which didn't get sold), and half-a-dozen SOs not yet paid-for.

Nina turned eighteen on Wednesday.

The cats (including Billy's 'cuz he still hasn't made any arrangements to get him back to Miami) come home Monday.

Barbara, Anailise and I are going to the Sasquatch next weekend.

Pat's doctors have taken him off the chemo drugs 'cuz they're not working. He starts on Thalidomide today and will know in three weeks if it's working or not. It has a 50-50 chance of working and if it does, it can keep the myeloma in check for years. Now is a good time to send Good Thoughts?.
